Today the Canvas Shop, as it came to be known across the North, is a successful business, employing 17 producers on both a full and part-time basis. Fort McPherson Tent and Canvas Shop is located above the Arctic Circle in a Gwich?in community of approximately 800 people. The factory attests to the skills local native people have been employing for generations making moccasins and traditional clothing.
